Face 2 Face: A Tribute to Elton John & Billy Joel

THE BILLY JOEL/ELTON JOHN FACE-2-FACE TRIBUTE SHOW
Introducing the U.S.A.’s 1st and longest-running tribute to BILLY JOEL & ELTON JOHN…

Taking turns at an onstage piano, the dual tribute artists of the Billy Joel/Elton John Face-2-Face Tribute Show conjure the beloved songsters in both sound and image.

Backed by some the best and most sought-after musicians in the business, Levittown NY native MIKE SANTORO’s fingers flash up and down the keys on “Angry Young Man” before he belts out high-energy Billy Joel classics such as “Movin Out”, “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant” and more.

Following Santoro’s set, of the roughly three-hour show, RONNIE SMITH dons the iconic sunglasses and bedazzled suits of Elton John as he charts his style from the ‘70s to the present. Timeless anthems such as “Tiny Dancer” and the epic treasure “Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding” mixed with more whimsical material such as “Crocodile Rock” and the fictional rock-group narrative “Bennie and the Jets.”

For the 3rd act, both artists hit the stage for THE grand finale, trading the spotlight with more of the best of Billy Joel and Elton John. For over a decade, this event is not one to be missed!

Lonestar Christmas & Hits

Not every musician has the opportunity to revisit and even potentially improve upon their biggest hits. But on the forthcoming TEN to 1 record, the award-winning band Lonestar— Dean Sams (keyboards, acoustic guitar, background vocals), Michael Britt (lead guitarist, background vocals), Keech Rainwater (drums) and Drew Womack (lead vocals, guitar)—are taking a fresh look at all 10 of their chart-topping country songs.

This streak started in 1996 with the band’s second single, the rock-edged “No News,” and continued with the following year’s “Come Cryin’ to Me” and “Everything’s Changed.” The band’s quadruple-platinum 1999 album Lonely Grill spawned four No. 1 hits (including the beloved global smash “Amazed”) and established Lonestar as music’s preeminent pop-country band—a status they’d maintain through the 2000s and beyond.

With these re-recordings, the band members were mindful of striking a balance between preserving the sonic elements fans were familiar with—and not repeating them. Fittingly, TEN to 1 record reflects the ways Lonestar’s hits have evolved over the years during the band’s rousing, high-energy concerts. Such talent has contributed to the band winning many of music’s top honors, including Academy Of Country Music awards for New Vocal Group in 1996, Single and Song Of The Year in 2000, along with Humanitarian Of The Year in 2002. They also won Country Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year and International Artist Achievement award in 2001. All told, Lonestar have sold more than 10.5 million records since their formation.

With the release of TEN to 1 record, the band members are full of gratitude for what they’ve accomplished already, and excited about what the future holds. “It’s amazing that we’re still standing and putting on great shows after all these years,” Sams says. “The fans are still coming out to our shows night after night, to see us and hear our music. That’s almost 30 years of touring, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am—and I’ve never once taken it for granted.”

Rialto Square Reopening Plan and October Impacted Shows

RIALTO ANNOUNCES SCHEDULED REOPENING

The Rialto is pleased to announce that it is preparing to reopen for the upcoming fall-winter season, with plans for events starting on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024, for the Vitamin String Quartet concert. This announcement follows weeks of close collaboration with environmental experts and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) to ensure the safe reopening of the Rialto. The proactive efforts were prompted by the IEPA’s identification of environmental violations by a state-certified asbestos removal contractor working in the basement of the Rialto.

Since being notified of the asbestos violations, the Rialto has taken numerous safety steps including testing the air in the theater and other areas of the building. The majority of those tests detected no asbestos. Only two tests each detected one strand of asbestos. By comparison, Illinois regulations set clearance testing for public schools to be less than 70 strands. In other words, if there had been 69 times the number of strands found, the tests would have shown the air was safe for public schools.

Despite tests showing virtually no detectable asbestos, the Rialto, in collaboration with IDPH-certified remediation experts, developed a comprehensive cleaning plan that meets the highest standards set by the IEPA. This plan is designed to ensure the utmost safety for all occupants while addressing any concerns from the community.

The cleanup plan, which was approved by the IEPA on September 20, 2024, allows for reopening sections of the Rialto building in stages as certain requirements are met. Those requirements include the cleaning of all areas and the reopening of areas only after air testing which meets the strictest standards. Requirements have already been met that allow for reopening areas occupied by the University of St. Francis, Midland States Bank, the Rialto Square Ticket Office and Ticket Lobby, and the Rialto’s Administrative offices. It is anticipated that all requirements will be met which will allow for the reopening of the theater by the Rialto’s show on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

The Rialto has issued another press release on today’s date, September 25, 2024, that addresses changes with regard to specific shows. That release should be referred to for cancelations, postponements, and refund information. That press release is below.

Classic rock band is heading to the Rialto this November

August 16, 2019 (Joliet, IL) – Rialto Square Theatre announced the addition of classic rock band, Little River Band, to the fall schedule on Saturday, November 16th at 7:30 PM. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 23rd at 10 AM. For more information visit RialtoSquare.com.

The Eagles founding member, the late Glenn Frey, knew what he was saying when he dubbed Little River Band “the best singing band in the world.” Through the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, LRB enjoyed huge chart success with multiplatinum albums and chart topping hits like: “Reminiscing”, “Cool Change”, “Lonesome Loser”, “The Night Owls”, “Take It Easy On Me”, “Help Is on Its Way”, “Happy Anniversary”, “We Two”,  “Man On Your Mind”, “The Other Guy”, and It’s A Long Way There”.

Worldwide album, CD sales and digital downloads now exceed 30 million and LRB has set a record for having had Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years. In fact, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable status! According to BMI, “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on American radio, and “Lady” is close behind with over 4 million airplays.

Bassist/vocalist Wayne Nelson joined the band in 1980, and worked alongside founding members with some of the most distinctive harmonies and vocal abilities, creating the unique LRB sound. In 1981, Nelson was recognized by world-renowned Beatles producer, Sir George Martin, whom while producing ‘Time Exposure’, chose Nelson to record lead vocals on two of the band’s biggest hits, “The Night Owls” and “Take It Easy On Me.” Later that same year, guitarist extraordinaire Stephen Housden joined LRB bringing a rock element into the band’s sound and helped contribute to their string of Top 10 hits.  As band members departed, both Housden and Nelson worked together to bring LRB into the new millennium.

To date, lead singer/bassist Wayne Nelson has contributed his vocal and bass guitar talents on 22 Little River Band Albums/CD’s.  LRB continues to perform to sold out audiences, and Stephen Housden continues to write and participate in all things Little River Band.

In 2004 LRB was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards and in September 2015 the band was awarded Casino Entertainer of the Year at the G2E Gaming Expo in Las Vegas Nevada.
Turning the page brings us to the current lineup of Little River Band…

Keyboardist Chris Marion is a Dove Award winning producer. Chris is the creator of all the orchestral arrangements and charts on The Big Box. It is amazing to watch him play, sing, and conduct from his riser! Lead Guitarist Rich Herring is a highly skilled player, singer, and producer of many Nashville artists…not to mention a great songwriter. He and Wayne have co-produced every LRB project since he joined the band. Drummer Ryan Ricks has locked down the rhythm section, and rounds out the vocals with his incredible range. Great singing drummers are rare…and LRB is lucky to have Ryan as part of that all-important vocal blend. Nashville Guitarist Colin Whinnery plays rhythm and lead guitar, and shares lead vocal duties with Wayne. He brings a brand new voice and a fresh outlook to the rhythm section.

Early 2014 saw the release of Little River Band’s, ‘Cuts Like a Diamond,’ on Frontiers Records.  “What If You’re Wrong,” went to #1 and stayed there for 3 weeks says Jim Shoe of CLASSX Radio.  “Forever You, Forever Me,” and “You Dream, I’ll Drive,” both climbed into the station’s TOP 3. In November of 2016, LRB released, ‘The Hits…Revisited,’ on World Records –  a CD consisting of 9 re-recorded hits along with 2 new songs.  May of 2017 brought the release of ‘The Big Box’ –  a box set consisting of 6 disc’s featuring a DVD with live footage from their 40th Anniversary Tour.  It Easy On Me were hits in 5th and 6th y

Bringing their vocal and musical energy along with great arrangements to their timeless classic hits, each show creates new memories for the audience.  The band enjoys watching their fans fall in love with the songs all over again as they are swept up by the show’s powerful performance and the volume of hits from LRB’s history.

With 90 -100 dates scheduled for their 2019 tour, Little River Band is hotter than ever selling out shows and making music from coast to coast nationwide continuing their legacy of being “the best singing band in the world.”

Little River Band is:
Wayne Nelson:  Lead Vocals/Bass
Chris Marion:  Keyboards/Vocals
Rich Herring: Lead Guitar/Vocals
Ryan Ricks: Drums/Percussion/Vocals
Colin Whinnery: Guitar/Lead Vocals
