This concert event weaves together iconic songs and heartfelt performances with the stories behind the music that celebrates the friendship and collaboration of Carole King and James Taylor. This nostalgic, feel-good tribute to the lives of two legendary artists features beloved favorites like “Fire and Rain,” “Beautiful,” “Sweet Baby James,” and “I Feel
the Earth Move.” Audiences are invited into an evening of timeless songwriting and storytelling, highlighting the joy, warmth, and tenderness of a remarkable friendship and the music it inspired.
Bill Hanney, owner and producer of Theatre by the Sea is proud to have hosted the first performances over the summer. He states, “You’ve Still Got A Friend has been the highest-grossing world premiere in our theatre’s 93-year history and was absolutely loved by audiences and critics alike. The road is getting a real treat with this one!”
Broadway World praised the show as a “Once-in-a-lifetime musical experience!” while the Boston Globe described the show as “A tribute concert with benefits”.
You’ve Still Got A Friend is conceived and directed by three-time Tony Award-winning producer Seth Greenleaf. “I’ve always had great admiration for both artists, but learning how their friendship influenced one another’s music gave me an even deeper appreciation for them. This concert is a celebration of that music and the joy it has brought to generations.”
The creative team includes scenic and lighting design by Alex Perry, sound design by David Lanza, original scenic artwork by Danielle Rose Fisher and video design by Ben Auxier.
