THEATRE CLASSES
STARS ON STAGE: An Introductory Acting Class
Get an overview of theatre including the “secret language” and “code” of the theatre. Students will work on performance techniques, theatre games and improvisation. The Instructor is Dan Franke, full-time theatre educator, and Joliet resident.
Ages 6-8. Minimum 6 / Maximum 12

TEEN SCENE
This class is for the high school crowd who wants to improve their acting skills. Emphasis is on script analysis and character development. Students choose monologues for intensive coaching.
The instructor will be Dan Franke, full-time theatre educator, Joliet resident and continuing instructor at the Rialto School of the Arts.
Ages 13 – 18. Minimum 8 / Maximum 17

IMPROV-A LOT!
This class will introduce students to Chicago’s famous form of theatre: IMPROV! Improvisational comedy (also know as Improv) is where actors like Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd, Jimmy Falon, and Will Ferrell got their start! Students will learn a variety of fun, physical games and techniques, concluding with a good old fashioned improv match! This class will be taught by Ms. Earliana McLaurin, a Joliet native who is active in the Chicago theatre community and has taught for two years at School of the Arts.
Recommended for ages 10-14. Minimum 8 / maximum 15.

This year is Abraham Lincoln’s 200 th birthday! Here is a chance to learn about Abe and some of the many famous people who herald from our great state. This class will end in a full stage performance. This is a magnificent, full play theatre experience for your child!
