Nothing seems to interest young Milo--not his toys, not his friends, and especially
not school. But when a mysterious tollbooth materializes in his room, he “drives
on through” to discover a world of inspiration! With the help of a time-keeping
watchdog named Tock, Milo gets unstuck from the Doldrums and embarks on a
quest to rescue the princesses of Rhyme and Reason. Along the way, he reunites
the dueling kingdoms of words and numbers and realizes that life is more exciting
than his wildest dreams. Adapted from Norton Juster’s beloved children’s book, this
inventive musical features a melodious score by Arnold Black and witty lyrics full of

falls – right on top of Stanley! The next morning Stanley Lambchop wakes up
flat! At first it is not so bad – he can slide under doors, be flown like a kite, and
be best at Hide-and-Seek. He decides to make the best of it, put himself in a big
envelope and travel the world…as a human letter! In this musical travelogue, while
Stanley scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem, he’s stamped, posted
and cancelled from South Africa to Mexico, from Russia to England to China and
beyond. He meets new friends, learns about cultures through song and dance, and
tries to achieve his goal of once more being a three-dimensional boy.
